Left a review in the heat of the moment, gave the wrong business five stars, or just changed your mind? Any review you wrote is yours to remove, and deleting a Google review takes about thirty seconds once you know where to look. This guide walks through it on both phone and desktop, and covers the one reason the delete button sometimes goes missing.
One thing worth saying up front: deleting a review you wrote is completely different from getting rid of a review someone left about your business. This post is about removing your own review. Delete a Google review on your phone
The Google Maps app is the fastest route on mobile, and it is where most people write reviews in the first place.
- Open the Google Maps app and tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Tap Your Profile, then Reviews (on some versions it is under "Contributions" then "Reviews").
- Scroll to the review you want gone and tap the three-dot menu beside it.
- Tap Delete, then confirm.
That is it. The review disappears from the business listing almost immediately.
Delete a Google review on desktop

- Go to google.com/maps and make sure you are signed in (top-right corner).
- Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) at the top-left, then Your contributions.
- Open the Reviews tab.
- Find the review, click its three-dot menu, and choose Delete review.
Heads up: deletion is permanent. There is no trash folder and no undo. If there is any chance you will want the wording again — or want to repost it later once an issue is resolved — copy the text somewhere safe first.
Why is there no delete option?
If you open your review and there is no three-dot menu or no Delete choice, the cause is almost always the same: you are signed into the wrong Google account. Plenty of people have a personal Gmail and a work Google account, and Google only shows the delete option to the exact account that posted the review.
Sign out, sign back in with the other account, and check your Reviews list again. If the review was posted while you were signed out of Google entirely, it cannot be linked to any account — in that rare case only Google can remove it, and you would need to report it through their support flow.
Editing instead of deleting
Sometimes you do not want the review gone — you want to fix it. Maybe the business made things right and deserves a better rating, or you spotted a typo. In the same three-dot menu you will see an Edit option right next to Delete. We break that down in how to edit a Google review.
A note for business owners
If you found this page because a customer left you a review you wish would vanish, deleting it yourself is not an option — only the person who wrote it, or Google, can take it down. What you can do is respond professionally, flag genuinely policy-violating reviews, and drown out the occasional bad one by consistently earning new positive reviews.
